Maintenance and Repair

Now you've spent time and money fitting your beautiful real wood floor you're naturally going to want to preserve that 'wow' factor by keeping your new floor in a fabulous as new condition.

Here are a few do's and don'ts to help you keep your new floor looking like new for as long as possible.

Do's

  • use a mat in the doorway to trap dirt and muck
  • wipe up any spills as quickly as possible
  • use a recommended cleaner, avoid harsh detergents
  • sweep regularly with a soft broom or dust mop

Don'ts

  • don't drag heavy furniture across the floor
  • avoid wearing high heels
  • don't stand pot plants directly on the floor
  • try to avoid direct sunlight hitting the floor

Regular Maintenance

Sweeping and keeping clean is the best and easiest way to keep your gorgeous solid wood floor looking it's best for years to come. When the floor begins looking dull give it a thorough clean with a recommended cleaner to help restore it's natural sheen and beauty.

Repair

Small scratches can easily be repaired with suitable scratch repair kits for all types of wooden flooring, if after a few years the floor has lost it's sheen, then it will be a good idea to re-laquer the wood with a suitable product to really bring back the sheen and renew the protective coating. Re-sanding [although possible] should really be seen as last resort for damaged solid and real floors.
